Mezze Me, Frogmore Street Abergavenny

Reviewed by Carol

We tried this Turkish restaurant mid-week in Abergavenny. It was fairly quiet but we sat outside to get the last of the sun.

The waitress seemed a little inexperienced but brought out our glasses of wine fairly quickly.

We checked the mezze menu and all but two items were veggie or vegan. We ordered felafel, the cigari (cheese in Dili pastry) babaganoush (aubergine dip) and halloumi chips.

All came to the table fairly quickly and were all tasty. However, some of the accompaniments weren’t there – no tahini sauce for the felafel and no pitta bread. We had some sort of focaccia. A shame they didn’t serve authentic Turkish bread but on the whole the food was good.

Halloumi sticks

The waitress returned to try and take our plates when we were obviously still eating, so some training needed I think.

The restaurant does lack some atmosphere but if you want some good veggie small plates at a reasonable price Mezze Me delivers.

Cost for 2 with 2 glasses of house white £32.50
